Eager to Learn

In our fast paced world so much emphasis is placed on work, achievement, and managing a full schedule that time for play has been all but eliminated. This is unfortunate because sharing with friends, spontaneous fun, or solitary moments with a hobby stimulates growth and reduces stress. These forms of play teach as no other learning device can.

Play is much more than fun and leisure time for your child. It’s “work.” Play develops curiosity and encourages children to take risks. During play children make their own choices. Through play children discover. Play builds social relationships. Play is how children make things less scary. Play rejuvenates!

Experts recommend that children be given time and space to play, not only at home but as part of their school day. Play opens the doors to creativity, earning, growth, development and happiness.

Our Early Childhood Program is developed within a play oriented curriculum with emphasis on religious experiences, language arts, problem solving and acceptable social behavior. Directed and creative experiences provide opportunities for the teacher to explore the learning capabilities of each child.

The daily routine is planned to involve the total group of children as well as to provide individual activities for each child. The teacher helps each child “learn how to learn” by providing opportunities to discover, gather information, classify, organize materials, process information, make decisions and solve problems is the basis of the curriculum.

Materials for implementing the program are geared to the age, developmental stage, ability and interest of the child. Therefore, materials and equipment are changed when they are no longer useful.
